Most agencies will not put a number on a website build. You get a call, a discovery phase and a quote weeks later, once you have already spent an afternoon on it. We publish the bands instead, so you know the shape of a build before you pick up the phone.
Terrier’s web builds start from £950 for a landing page, excluding VAT, with no minimum term, 60 days’ notice, at any point.

What moves the price
Five things move a build up or down from the from-price above:
- Pages. A ten-page brochure site is a different job to a sixty-page one, and the quote reflects the page count once we have seen your content.
- Integrations. A booking system, a CRM connection, a payment gateway or a stock feed each add build and testing time.
- Design from scratch versus a design system. A bespoke design, built page by page, costs more than a build from a proven design system adapted to your brand.
- Content migration. Moving an existing site’s pages, posts and media across, with redirects preserved, is scoped separately to a build starting from a blank site.
- Markets. A second language or a second currency is a separate content set and a separate checkout flow, not a checkbox.
What every build includes
Every Terrier web build, at every band, includes the same four things as standard.
- A redirect map. Every old URL is mapped to its new equivalent before launch, so you keep the search visibility you already have.
- Tracking set up before launch. Analytics and conversion tracking are live and tested on day one, not bolted on afterwards.
- SEO research first. The site is built around the keywords and page structure your customers actually search for, not decided after the design is signed off.
- A working prototype before you sign. You see and click through a working build before you commit to the full contract, not a static mockup.
Care plans and development retainers
Once a site is live, it needs two different kinds of ongoing work, and we price them separately because they are different jobs.
The care plan, at £250 a month, is maintenance: plugin and core updates, backups, security monitoring, and 2 hours of small changes a month. It keeps the site running and secure.
A development retainer is build work: new pages, new features, design changes, anything that goes beyond small edits. It runs at 10 hours a month for £600, or 20 hours a month for £1,100. Most sites on a care plan alone are fine. Sites that keep growing, adding sections or running campaigns, need the retainer hours on top.
Both run on the same terms as everything else we do: no minimum term, 60 days’ notice, at any point.
Enterprise
A multi-market build, an enterprise CMS, or a migration already in flight is scoped to the brief rather than fitted into a band. Get in touch for a written proposal.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a website cost in the UK?
It depends on the number of templates, the integrations and how much content has to move across, which is why most agencies quote rather than publish. Ours start from £6,500 for a full WordPress brochure site, and from £950 for a single landing page.
Is there a minimum term?
No. 60 days’ notice, at any point, on care plans and development retainers alike.
Do I need a care plan?
Any live WordPress or Shopify site needs updates, backups and security monitoring somewhere. If you already have someone doing that, you do not need ours. If you do not, the care plan covers it plus 2 hours of changes a month.
What is the difference between the care plan and a development retainer?
The care plan is maintenance: updates, backups, security, small edits. A development retainer is for new work: pages, features and design changes that take longer than the care plan’s 2 hours allow.
Do you charge a set-up fee?
No. The price band covers the build from research through to launch.
Can I see the site before I sign a contract?
Yes. Every build includes a working prototype you can click through before you commit.
