From £1,250 a month, and here is what that buys
Small business SEO with Terrier starts at £1,250 a month, ex VAT, with no minimum term — 60 days’ notice, at any point. That is our entry tier — one market, one site, built for a business making its first serious SEO investment rather than a large brand running several campaigns at once. It buys a fixed programme of pages, content and reporting, not a vague “we’ll see what we can do” retainer.
What’s included at the entry tier
25 priority pages optimised each month, two pieces of new content, and two earned links a month, delivered by the same small team throughout — no rotating between a strategist, a writer and a junior account manager. Reporting is monthly: rankings on the agreed keywords, organic traffic, and what changed on the site that month, in plain language.
Work starts with a technical and content audit, so the first fixes are the ones actually holding your rankings back. From there the priority pages get built or rewritten, on-page issues get fixed in order of impact, and content and link work run on a steady monthly cadence rather than one burst followed by silence.
What is NOT included
Two earned links a month keeps authority moving; it will not close a large gap against well-linked competitors — that needs a digital PR programme, which sits in our higher SEO tiers. This tier does not cover multi-market or multi-language SEO — see our local SEO service if location is the constraint — enterprise technical work such as a site migration or international hreflang architecture, or paid media. It is organic search, for one market, on one site.
When you should not hire us
We would rather say this now than six months into a contract. Do not hire us if your real budget is under £1,250 a month — we will not discount below our published floor. Do not hire us if you need results inside eight weeks; SEO moves on a three-to-six-month curve, and anyone promising faster is describing a riskier method. Do not hire us if you cannot give the work two or three quarters, which is roughly how long on-page and content work takes to show in rankings — there is no contractual minimum, but there is a physical one. Do not hire us if you trade in more than one country — you need a larger programme than this one. And do not hire us if you want a fixed ranking guarantee — we show you the work and the trend line, not a promise no honest agency can make.
Proof
MyBaker — structural SEO work took MyBaker’s Search Engine Trust Flow from 9 to 21 and lifted its “Order Birthday Cake” ranking from 39th to 9th, alongside 16.4% year-on-year growth in organic traffic.
Pure Pet Food — SEO and content work grew sales 34%, organic traffic 27%, and non-brand organic traffic 39% for the UK dog food brand.
Cheese Box Club — for the UK cheese subscription service, we built a creator-led content programme of recipes, photography and reviews from food-loving creators to reach new audiences nationwide, working alongside the SEO programme rather than replacing it.
The first 90 days
Month one is the audit: technical health, current rankings, and the 25 priority pages selected against real search demand, not a guess. Month two is build: priority pages go live or get rewritten, the first two pieces of content publish, and the first two links land. Month three is the first real read on movement — early ranking shifts, a traffic trend forming, and a plan for months four to six built on what the data has actually shown.
Small business SEO FAQs
Why does the price start at £1,250 a month and not lower?
£1,250 is our published floor across every SEO tier, set out in full on our pricing page. Below that, a campaign cannot cover a proper audit, 25 optimised pages, two pieces of content and two links a month with the same team throughout. We would rather state the floor than take a smaller budget and under-deliver against it. If you want to see how that floor compares with what UK agencies typically charge, we cover it on our “how much does SEO cost in the UK” guide.
Is there a minimum term?
No. You can give 60 days’ notice, at any point. On-page and content changes still take time to be crawled, indexed and re-evaluated, and most movement shows in months three to six — so leaving early usually means paying for the setup and none of the payoff.
What if it is not working?
You give 60 days’ notice, at any point and we hand over everything we have built — the plan, the content and the fix lists. We would rather earn the renewal each month than lock you into a term.
Do I get a dedicated person, or a rotating team?
The same small team works your account for the length of the contract, not a rotation into account management with no visibility of the technical work.
What if I need more than 25 pages a month?
Then the entry tier is undersized for you, and we would recommend a larger tier rather than stretch this one past what it delivers well.
Can I add digital PR or link building later?
Yes. Many clients start at the entry tier to prove the work first, then move up once the priority pages are built and the reporting shows what is working.
Do you work with businesses outside the UK?
This tier is built for a single market on a single site. If you trade in more than one country, tell us during the call and we will scope it properly rather than force-fit it.
What do I need to have ready before we start?
Access to your analytics and search console, admin access to make changes (or a developer who can), and a sense of which products, services or locations matter most. Everything else is built from there.
